Okiebug is a publishing company focused on outdoor education and creativity. Originally founded in Tulsa in 1968, Okiebug was the go-to bait and tackle shop in the region. Fluorescent light glinted off the lures in the store, scents of plastic worms and morning coffee wafted through the aisles, and an enormous freshwater fish tank held center stage. The store shared its name with a few of the its famous lures, most notably the Okiebug and the Small Okiebug (S.O.B.). In 2020, in the midst of working on their first publishing project, writer and editor Liz Blood decided to resurrect the defunct brand. Now, Okiebug is reincarnate—not as a tackle shop, but with the same spirit of love for Oklahoma’s wildlife and wild places.
